Marja Lindholm
Research environment: freshwaters (including wetlands)
Taxonomic group of interest: algae, bryophytes, insects, vascular plants
Field of research: biogeography, community ecology
Land use under investigation: agriculture, drainage, forestry, mining (including peat extraction), urbanisation
Anthropogenic impact under investigation: climate change, habitat modifications, invasive species, population changes and species decline
In my research, I seek to understand how biodiversity has changed over time and what the underlying processes causing the changes are. Currently, I am working in the GloBioTrends project, where I am analysing spatial and temporal beta diversity of stream macroinvertebrate communities and beyond. However, I am interested in a wide variety of freshwater organisms and environments at different spatial and temporal scales.
